A new manager at the helm for the Toon Army for the coming season - may have brightened the spirits of Newcastle United supporters this past week or so.
Sam Allardyce has already got rid of the liability that was Titus Bramble by not renewing his contract. Craig Moore, Olivier Bernard and ex-Toon legend Pavel Srnicek have also been released.
One thing is certain - the coaching and fitness strategies that made Big Sam a success at Bolton will almost certainly be brought in.
Big Sam has already highlighted his concerns about the amount of injuries incurred by players this season. Using the scientific technology used at Bolton - Sam hopes to get the team into a new fitness regime and get the players to gel as a team again - the first thing that was said by Big Sam about the players - they will all have a clean slate and will now have to work hard to keep their place at St James Park.... but will not stand for any dressing room backchat.
Hopefully we will see a few new players coming in the back four obviously top priority.
With the transfer window opening and also friendlies to come it is sure to be a busy Summer ahead for Freddy Shepherd, Sam Allardyce and the ever faithful Toon Army faithful.
One of the big questions that remains is whether former Real Madrid & Liverpool star Michael Owen will stay at St James Park after reports of a £9m get out clause in his contract allows him to speak to clubs who bid that price.
The fact that the club has no european football this season is a worry for fans and Allardyce alike - but Owen has not come forward and made it clear on the position, former team mate and Ex-Newcastle United captain and legend Alan Shearer has no doubt Mchael will be a Newcastle player next season..
