Newcastle striker Albert Luque joined Ajax after the two clubs agreed a deal.

The 29-year-old Spaniard has endured a miserable spell on Tyneside since his £9million move from Deportivo La Coruna two years ago.

He joined the Amsterdam club for an undisclosed fee, having already agreed personal terms on a three-year contract.

An Ajax statement read: "The striker has signed a contract at Ajax, which runs until June 30, 2010."
